This seems...... not worth it.. Should I continue to be selling the loot junk, or some other strategy?
People hate on chaos recipe but with https://github.com/ChaosRecipeEnhancer/EnhancePoEApp and a quad tab its nice on day1 or 2 if you're slow. Obviously it's not the thing anyone should farm exclusively but it's a stable chaos income on the side.

TIL you can vendor a full set of unidentified gear for two chaos orbs….

Regex string for RGB + 6socket with rarity filtering
The exception is that during the first week or so of a league it is often worthwhile to pick up vendor recipe items (R-G-B for chrom recipe, 6s for jewelers, full set of rares for chaos). The Chaos recipe in particular is pretty complicated and takes up a lot of space, there are a couple tools that can make this easier, notably Chaos Recipe Enhancer tool: https://github.com/ChaosRecipeEnhancer/EnhancePoEApp

New upgrade finder tool in POB found 4c item, gave me 24% more damage. Crazy!
I thought most people who use 3rd party tools for PoE were already using this https://github.com/VolatilePulse/PoB-Item-Tester script which does the same thing and has existed for over 4 years.

How to incrementally buy player power
You can also use POB Item Tester with Xanthic's web service to spit out automatic weighted DPS searches for your build based on a PoB. This is generally very useful for jewels that have a ton of different specific mods, but you can also use it for other gear.

Best way to learn to make builds
For gear I usually just choose a couple of key uniques, and then just fill it out with life+res gear and then use https://github.com/VolatilePulse/PoB-Item-Tester to generate trade searches within my budget

What are some builds reaching dps in the millions without the requirement of dmg on crafted gear?
Pick a spell you like (or any other skill that primarily scales of gem levels) and take some time to learn how to use PoeItemTester, if you're using a spell it can really help bridge the gap between the wand you found in a T2 map and the wands people are crafting for 30ex.

Request for PoB developers - Generate a list of mod combinations for max damage across different item slots.
I'd love to see a more fleshed out tool native to pob, though there is similar in pob item tester's weighted sum dps search tool.
