Best way to maintain old R script - renv? docker?
As promised, I tried to make the documentation a bit more accessible, given that I don't have a doc builder. It's now all in markdown.

running R in production?
If you need to manage complex, different environments, I wrote roo. It's not perfect and definitely not finished, but I've been using successfully for three years, and it's way more reliable than renv and install.packages. It supports multiple, separated environments, fully isolated, for different versions of R. It also does the transitive dependency check (no SAT solver yet, sorry) and creates lock in roo, packrat and renv format.

{macrtools} R package: Setup the R compilation toolchain for both Intel-based and Arm-based macs!
This looks like solid work but I am not sure what the use-case for this is. In particular, for end users of R on macOS, why would I use this over the official distribution bundle or rig?

With rig (https://github.com/r-lib/rig) and renv you will be able to have a reproducible environment with any version of R.

Installing R 4.2 on MBP M1 Pro
I recommend using rig to install R, my experience with it is very positive and it makes it easy to manage side-by-side installations of multiple versions of R.

RStudio not using the most up to date R
I’ve never tried using ‘installr’ but I recommend you give ‘rig’ a try instead. It’s working incredibly well in my experience, and I trust the expertise of its maintainer.
