Getting Half-Life working (a bit) on RG351MP
Make sure you're on the newest PRE-release of AmberElec (https://github.com/AmberELEC/AmberELEC-prerelease/releases/) as this helped me with Quake 3 issues, might have helped with this.

Should I let 351ELEC update to the beta or install a different build? I have a 351V using version 20211122. I’ve tried updating using the settings but it never seems to update. I’m having issues with the buttons/OS freezing after I wake the screen from standby.
I'm using thelatest AmberElec pre-release build. I started with the Pineapple build you're using and if I recall correctly, they went from beta releases to pre-release builds. And you had to update to the beta build before it would provide an option for the pre-release build download. You can skip all that by simply downloading the lates pre-release and putting it in the proper folder on the device and then manually updating. It will do the rest for you. But, I warn you, it will still freeze up from time to time when waking from sleep.

Issue with ANBERNIC RG552
I highly highly recommend using Amber Elec for the Linux side of things and Black-Seraphs AOSP Android 9.0 upgrade build, I had similar issues when I got the device right off hand but after flashing android 9 to the device and flashing the sd card with Amber Elec, it works beautiful plus there's new features you didn't have before. I also recommend upgrading your SD to a SanDisk ultra or better. link for amberELEC AmberELEC is prerelease rn so it's in Alpha, there are other Linux build you can get if you don't want an alpha program but here are the instructions And lastly here's the link/instructions for the Black-Sereph android build, you do have to become a member of his Patreon but after you get the files you can end the sub if you choose to do so, but its only 10 bucks and you get access to his full catalog of software so it is worth it. Best of luck it is a tedious thing but it will definitely improve if you do this there are some YouTube videos that use these same softwares too so you can walkthrough on there if you get confused. Cheers!

Linux Users (ext4 roms sd card permissions)
While I am not positive it will help your problem you might want to look into updating to AmberElec pre-release. I know they've updated various kernels and I vaguely recall there being some file permissions adjustments made at some point. you could robably look through the version changelogs and see but it's totally worth updating to the new version.
- AmberElec volume WAY too low even when maxed out

-BEGINNER QUESTION- The Tools section in the options menu is missing??
Are you running the last official ArkOS release for RG351P/M (released in May 2021), or WuMMLe's ArkOS Fork (updated in March or April 2023)? The fork might be worth a try, if you're still on the official release, as WuMMLe has continued to provide core and emulator updates, as well as apply certain fixes from more recent ArkOS builds to 351P/M devices. Maybe a fix for your issue was included at some point? Changelogs here.
