I highly highly recommend using Amber Elec for the Linux side of things and Black-Seraphs AOSP Android 9.0 upgrade build, I had similar issues when I got the device right off hand but after flashing android 9 to the device and flashing the sd card with Amber Elec, it works beautiful plus there's new features you didn't have before. I also recommend upgrading your SD to a SanDisk ultra or better. link for amberELEC AmberELEC is prerelease rn so it's in Alpha, there are other Linux build you can get if you don't want an alpha program but here are the instructions And lastly here's the link/instructions for the Black-Sereph android build, you do have to become a member of his Patreon but after you get the files you can end the sub if you choose to do so, but its only 10 bucks and you get access to his full catalog of software so it is worth it. Best of luck it is a tedious thing but it will definitely improve if you do this there are some YouTube videos that use these same softwares too so you can walkthrough on there if you get confused.
