HID Cable: a Zero+Pico based "cable" allowing an iPad to send text to other devices over the HID protocol
This is the final version of my HID Cable, a setup I made for my teaching job. It consists of a Pi Pico and a Pi Zero. On the Zero end, a soldered on USB C cable provides power and a wired USB Ethernet gadget local network connection from the connected iPad Pro. The iPad has a ton of Shortcuts (automation app) set up with predefined feedback comments that I can trigger with keyboard shortcuts in order to copy to the clipboard, normally used to insert into student work I grade. A second keyboard shortcut however grabs the clipboard and uses HTTP POST to the Pi's hostname, where it's running a Flask server. The Flask script compensates for any odd characters that the Pico end doesn't support before sending it over UART to the Pico. The Pico is connected to any other device that supports USB keyboards and acts like one, receiving the text over UART and typing it out as if it were a keyboard. This is fairly standard CircuitPython HID with a Norwegian layout.

How do I enable gamepad in boot.py?
I found this example code in Adafruit's HID library and I wanted to use the hid_simple_gamepad.py. I was wondering how I could enable gamepad in boot.py? Any help is appreciated.

Can't get Pico to send keystrokes
I downloaded the adafruit_hid https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_HID/releases 5.3.3

Keystrokes for game
It's not 100% correct but it should look a bit like this, the delay you can choose to your needs, but at least 0.15s. Here is a link to the github with a lot of examples

how to flash with past versions of circuitpython
https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_HID/pull/66 here it states that gamepad will no longer be included, am I understanding it right?

Simple ejection seat controller mechanism for anyone who wants to make a cheap easy design.
Then I use the circuit python HID library to sent keyboard HID reports (keypresses) to the host machine. They have good examples on the Github.

00Key a 75% Keyboard
I only use keyboards running QMK or ZMK, so:
My Caps Lock key is a Control/Escape key (when tapped it behave like a Escape, when hold it's Control), and my left Control is a one shot layer switch key [1], which means I tap LCtrl once, and then press Caps Lock + 5 to get Ctrl+F5. Doable with single hand and more ergonomic as I have an unusually small hand.

Principles for Keyboard Layouts (2022)
I agree that reduced finger movement is a crucial step in achieving typing efficiency. This is nicely solved by mod tap modifiers in QMK/ZMK[1] where key acts as a char when tapped and as a layer while pressed.

Debugging a Failing Hotkey
If you have a keyboard that runs QMK firmware[0] with the VIA[1] feature enabled[2], then there is a convenient testing app available from the same place you customize your keys [3].

Just setting up my first corne layout. It will take a while for me to get used to this wow... It's taking so long to type. Attached is my layout, and I mainly use c# on visual studio. Any concerns/advice/suggestions are welcome. It will take a while for me to reply on this thing though.. haha..
I made a layout that I'm happy with. Spanish is my native language, so it has characters like the accents and 'ñ', but it's meant to be used for programming as well. Visual Studio uses a lot of Ctrl and Ctrl + Shift shortcuts, so I left them in the same place as the default Corne layout so I can press them both with my pinkie finger. Perhaps some of the ideas are useful to you.

Adafruit Feather RP2040 with USB Type A Host as a QMK converter board?
Also, it would be possible to do this for the RP2040. However, it needs some work to get working. but for example: https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/20999
-
If anyone knows of a good tutorial on how to make this tft display useful on a board controlled by an rp2040 and flashed with qmk configurator, I would be most grateful if you could point me in that direction. Gracias!
Ok, it's an ST7735, not too different from the ST7789. You should be able to get running by looking at their files in the QMK repo and going from there. You should also check their resources page.
