Is there any good up to date android documentation for ARCore? I have been looking at official ARCore website but can't find anything related to how to create local anchors and add objects or models in your app and attach them to local anchors.
Google abandoned the Sceneform SDK. They now "recommend" using Unity for AR stuff (Unity ARCore SDK). If Unity is not the option the last resort is the fork https://github.com/thomasgorisse/sceneform-android-sdk

Why should Android developers start building AR apps before 2024?
Until recently, you could use Google’s dedicated Sceneform SDK. But in 2020, Google moved Sceneform to the archive and withdrew further support for it. Currently, the Sceneform repository is maintained by enthusiasts and is available here. It must be said that the repository is updated quite frequently. However, there is still a risk of using technology that is not supported by Google.
What are some alternatives?
sceneview-android - SceneView is a 3D and AR Android Composable and View with Google Filament and ARCore. This is a Sceneform replacement in Kotlin
arcore-filament-example-app - ARCore Filament Example App
Ar-Object-Detection - I built this app using Mlkit along with the TensorFlow Lite model for object detection, Arcore is used to place anchors to the detected objects. It's a good blend of Machine learning and Augmented reality to visualise ML information in a much better way than regular bounding boxes
StreetMeasure - Measure distances with AR
sceneform-android-sdk - Sceneform SDK for Android
sceneform-android - Sceneform Maintained is an ARCore Android SDK with Google Filament as 3D engine. This is the continuation of the archived Sceneform
PapARt - Paper Augmented Reality Toolkit - interactive projection for Processing
gcode-estimator - Estimate the length/weight/cost of filament used for a 3D print by parsing the gcode file
processing-android - Processing mode and core library to create Android apps with Processing
