Mod overview: Tweaks, convenience mods, quality of life, and other minor enhancements
Reveal Hidden Gameplay Options: adds options to the in-game menu that otherwise require editing the ini file. Options include: show spell AOE, debug mode, limit cleric/ranger spells, pause during dialogue, improved pathfinding, no cosmetic attacks, frame rate slider. Pathing and Inventory
As far as the pathfinding goes, some people claim that some versions of the EE actually made it worse. I don't remember the classic games (or the earlier versions of the EE) well enough at this point to confirm that, but it might well be true. In any case, there are two options I'm aware of that can improve the pathfinding. One is to increase the Path Search Nodes value in your baldur.lua file. The other is to install the Hidden Gameplay Options mod and enable the Enhanced Path Search setting. Still, you'll sometimes have to micromanage party positioning, especially during combat in tight locations, and there's just no way around that. You can also enable the debug/cheat mode and use the Ctrl+J shortcut to teleport your party. Irrespective of any pathfinding issues, I routinely use that shortcut just to save time when traveling through areas that have already been explored and have no enemies.

Any idea how to enable console commands?
Might be easier just install a mod that unlocks the console for you.

For someone who's never played before - best way to experience the Baldur's Gate series?
Easiest way to add teleporting command (Ctrl + J to teleport to mouse cursor location) is to install Reveal Hidden Gameplay Options mod. You want the "Enable Debug Mode" for it. There are two other QoL updates you should grap "Show Area of Effect Range" and "Show trigger icons on tab".

Companion FOMO
Minsc, Yoshimo, Valygar, Cernd, Imoen, Korgan, Mazzy, Viconia. Pair these with the Banter pack and IEP for even more chatter.

Completed another run of BG2 - some random thoughts
Minsc (note: lets you talk to Boo), Yoshimo, Valygar, Cernd, Imoen, Korgan (it's basically a pub crawl, it's great), Mazzy, Viconia, and Sarevok.

Friendship mods: Cernd, Valygar, Minsc, Imoen, Yoshimo, Korgan, Viconia, Haer’Dalis, and Mazzy. There’s one I haven’t linked here for spoiler reasons. Only click this if you don’t mind having a semi-hidden NPC spoiled: Sarevok friendship Also recommended are BG1 Neera Expansion (for BG1), Wilson Chronicles, and Wings, an Aerie friendship/banter mod.

I’d love to hear what your favourite games were this year and what you’re looking forward to!
Extended banter project - NPCs talk with each other more Banter pack - same thing. Some people find the level of chatter excessive, but if you're a completionist, it's easy to run out of dialogue Ascension - the original version was actually written by David Gaider. It's been totally recoded. I don't recommend installing the first component (rewritten chapter 10) because the fight is super tough, but the other stuff is good - longer epilogues, improved character interaction, etc. There are also a bunch of friendship mods that offer expanded non-romantic content. All quite well-written. I've played and liked: Valygar, Minsc, Imoen, Yoshimo, Viconia, Mazzy, Haer'Dalis, and Cernd.
