SaaSHub
SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews. SaaSHub helps you find the best software and product alternatives
This library (and some others) supports them: https://github.com/Makuna/NeoPixelBus
Would love to see more open source competitors in this space. I was excited when I saw a Github link, but that's basically hosting just a README and the only one I know of is [GeoPix](https://github.com/EnviralDesign/GeoPix), but to be fair I haven't used either LX Studio or GeoPix. LX Studio does look exciting though, I will evaluate it on my next LED mapped project. A few projects I've done in the past have been playing with [Enttec ELM](https://www.enttec.com/product/dmx-lighting-control-software...) which is also not open source. A really neat feature of that software though is you can map GLSL shaders over your stages.
Project mention: Ambilight as immersion boost for ultrawide setup | /r/ultrawidemasterrace | 2023-06-26Personally, I just bought a 5-pack of ESP8266 D1s. I simply plugged it in and put my existing RGB data line to pin 6, I flashed the ESP8266 using my browser following the Quick Start guide (I ended up having to use my work laptop, my regular PC was giving weird permission issues when trying to flash).
Since you're (seemingly) already familiar with Arduino, just use that as your framework. You can program the ESP32 in Arduino and access any library you're familiar with as well as handle Wifi.
You can buy an RGB matrix on Adafruit and they sell esp32 boards that can drive them directly,so it's essentially plug and play, no hardware knowledge necessary.
If you prefer to DIY but still need some guide, check out this project that documents both hardware and software to achieve what you want to do:

Project mention: resin, led lights activated by touch and wood? This project screams EVAN AND KATELYN 😱😍 | /r/EvanandKatelyn | 2023-06-08github.com/mazls/hexagon-desk
Project mention: Can't find a way to drive a WS2812 strip via Artnet using an ESP8266/32 | /r/lightingdesign | 2023-05-30

- Update: I improved visual quality even further. Code is now fully die hard 32 bit only. It opens the door to ridiculous creative coding - now we can do basically anything to the values without concern to cause flicker. Faulty results get filtered out while all valid results maintain 32 bit accuracy.
