  • gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect

    KDE Connect implementation for GNOME

  • Project mention: For the first time, I'm not upgrading to the new release | /r/gnome | 2023-10-03

I mean.... yeah! Thats exactly what you should be doing. Upgrading your OS when not all your essential software is supported is bad practice to begin with and most non-rolling Distro support previous version for a bit (Fedora 38 will be supported for 6 months after the release of 39 for example). The extension manager app has a great "upgrade assistant" that lets you easily see which of your extension was already ported. Most extensions were already ported and the rest will probably follow shortly after Gnome 45 hits major distros. GSconnect already merged a PR so their release will be soon.

  • Tangram

  • Project mention: Native Gnome Wayland app for managing social/messaging apps? | /r/gnome | 2023-05-25

I had a look at Tangram (https://github.com/sonnyp/Tangram) and it ticks many of the boxes but it's inability to run as a tray app or hidden app as well as the lack of a sidebar doesn't really fit my preferred workflow.

  • gnome-shell-pano

Next-gen Clipboard Manager for Gnome Shell

  • Project mention: Does Debian 12 have a clipboard history? | /r/debian | 2023-06-13

  • Project mention: Brave appears to install VPN Services without user consent | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-10-18

For Linux users, Junction is a FOSS browser picker that works just like Choosy does on macOS. These browser pickers are more flexible than selecting just one default browser, and being able to inspect URLs before opening them is a nice security feature.

  • Project mention: I want to like NixOS but... I can't and I need some help | /r/NixOS | 2023-07-12

As a (primarily Ubuntu, secondarily Fedora) Gnome user I am however a bit annoyed. There are loads of things that are just different by default and that I need to look up etc. I am using the awesome Gnome Shell Extension Sync for my other computers to sync the settings. Which works fine using nixOS unless I want to run Home Manager again... Then home manager won't change some Gnome settings unless I delete the synced config which is a problem because some settings aren't saved in there and I do have to specify them via Home Manager. Do any of you know a way to easily convert exported dconf settings to a nix configuration? Or is there a way to use the extension sync and home-manager without each undoing the changes of the other?

  • Project mention: Night Theme Switcher extension - Libadwaita apps aren't affected | /r/gnome | 2023-05-18

Kinda. You can use an extension like https://github.com/dimitriskp22/custom-accent-colors to set the accent color, and it'll also let you apply it to the shell etc. I use that one, and it also works when switching between light and dark mode, but other themes and gradiance currently does not.
