  • How to Get Started with Pinia in Vue
    3 projects | dev.to | 19 Sep 2022
On one hand, the most used library in Vue is Vuex; however, Pinia has almost the exact same or enhanced API as Vuex 5, described in Vuex 5 RFC. Pinia can be considered as a successor of Vuex with a different name and is also compatible with Vue 2.x.
  • State of JSX in JavaScript Frameworks
    10 projects | dev.to | 10 Sep 2022
Other benefits of JSX include builtin editor support (instead of needing plugins like Volar), first-class type checking support (instead of needing workarounds like vue-tsc), and better support for generic components. These are trade-offs template DSLs make for ergonomic developing experience.
  • How to omit `.value` in refs (Vue 3 Composition API)
    3 projects | dev.to | 17 Jun 2022
When Vue 3 first came around, it introduced the Composition API. The API allowed for greater code re-usability as well as a better way to organize Vue JS code. Along with the composition API, came the concept of refs. To access the value of a ref, you needed to append .value to the name of the ref variable. To tackle this, the Vue team came up with a solution (Reactivity Transform) that would allow us to create reactive variables without creating refs.

If for whatever reason the team decides to change the state management library, this tight coupling will make such a task pretty difficult. "But we would never do that!" you may be thinking. You may be right... but you do want to update to newer versions of the same library, don't you? Well, Kia King said it himself, "... consider Pinia as Vuex 5 with a different name". Whenever is time to make that upgrade, you'll wish you had your state management loosely coupled.
  • Vue ecosystem is weak and it is hurting Vue

And it will get even worse if the Reactivity Transform is stabilized.
  • Anyway to auto import Vue 3 functions into <script setup>? Like ref, reactive, computed
    2 projects | reddit.com/r/vuejs | 16 Mar 2022
If you opt into the upcoming reactivity transform feature then they are available globally as $ref/$computed https://github.com/vuejs/rfcs/discussions/369 not sure about the others so the antfu lib linked above might be better
  • [AskJS] How do you release libraries updates with breaking changes?
    7 projects | reddit.com/r/javascript | 14 Feb 2022
RFCs. Stands for "request for comments" and is basically means writing a design document proposing and explaining changes before implementing them. The idea is to document rationale, etc to get community feedback early on, before any code is even written. This also doubles as a heads up regarding what changes are coming in the pipeline. The TC39 proposals, and Vue RFCs are examples of this. They might not help with the retroactive breaking changes that are already implemented, but they could help informing design decisions going forward - as you might be realizing by now, solid semantics are very very important, and RFCs can help immensely in getting them right from the beginning
  • [ELI5] Benefits of Composition API over Options API
    2 projects | reddit.com/r/vuejs | 27 Jan 2022
This such a bad situation that Evan You came up with the idea of using compiler macros: $(), $$(), $ref(), $computed() and others. This eliminates the .value annoyance, but it's simply not ready yet. There are some issues that need to be fixed.

Which will bring other problems. Are you following its RFC?
