  2] The rain shadows and mountains are all wrong if you are intending to follow real world physics and tectonics. It's not rocket surgery so you should at the very least check out some tectonic simulators. Tectonic.js is a decent free one. Just output your tectonics and biomes map from the site - then use that as guide by painting it on the background layer and simply paint the land and then place the moutains and paint biomes accordingly.

• World Map for my Homebrew Campaign, based off of a plate tectonics simulator

  To create this map I started by running a lot of plate tectonics simulations using tectonics.js until I found a structure of continents that I liked. I imported the image into Inkarnate and played with the shapes and the coastlines until I liked it. This is is still a work in progress especially the fonts and colors (I can already notice the title is off center of the banner lol).

  So I generated several worlds through Tectonics.js (http://davidson16807.github.io/tectonics.js/) to get some fun shapes to play with. The first 3 images are the same world, just a few million years apart. An awesome feature I can use when seeding the world with various beasties. The last is from a different seed, but generated a possible Med like playground for culture clashes and blending.

  I use tectonics.js. It’s a web-based, realistic tectonics simulator. It doesn’t give you a ton of control (except over resolution) but it’s much less work because it’s entirely randomized and you can let it run forever until you get shapes you like. The simulator will also overlay things like wind speed and direction and climate (although I’m not as convinced that those are entirely accurate—it accounts for elevation but I can’t remember if it has a humidity variable). It doesn’t do rivers either, but it gives you a topographic map so you can draw them in fairly easily. BTW—a word of warning, it allows you to export as a 2D map but the projection is a little weird so you have to resize and crop it before you upload the image file into another app to edit (which you’ll want to do to add rivers and polish the appearance a bit). tectonics.js
