I hope that you have found some useful advice in this article series about WordPress development. Hopefully, this will be my last post about WordPress. I will be looking into other site generators and frameworks like NEOS and Symfony, and continue my ongoing JAMstack and MERN side projects in 2023, and also continue to explore and blog about new and upcoming HTML, Vanilla JS and CSS features.
  • Autoloading, coding standards and file structure in WordPress plugin development
    4 projects | dev.to | 10 May 2023
I don’t want to dictate which standards you should follow, but I stick to the PSR, as they are also followed by other PHP frameworks like Symfony and Laravel. If you rely on PSR, you are not trapped in the WordPress universe and can seamlessly work on Symfony or Laravel projects as well. Opinions differ here, though; there are numerous advocates of the WordPress standard when programming for WordPress. If you ever want to become a core developer, you should definitely be aware that different coding standards exist.

Probably the easiest way to contact some of the Symfony internals is to open a Symfony discussion.

You can open a Symfony discussion or comment directly on the article if you want to go through the trouble of making a Symfony Connect account. There is also an existing comment on the article which clarifies a few things and links to a github issue.

  • Create a custom Symfony Normalizer for mapping values
    4 projects | dev.to | 3 Apr 2023
Denormalize FieldIDs does not work in Symfony 6.2. This has to do with an array_merge() when denormalizing in the symfony/serializer package in version 6.2. I have created a pull request for a fix. The pull request has already been reviewed. I guess the fix will be merged soon.
  • Flowbite Bundle - A symfony form theme for Flowbite
    4 projects | /r/symfony | 21 Mar 2023
If you ever had to build a theme for Symfony forms, then you know that it can be a real pain in the ass. I'm the main contributor to the Bootstrap 5's form theme, so I know what I'm talking about 😅!
