  • Jinja like functionality on a static file | 2021-05-08
If you like the syntax of Jinja I think Twig could be a good fit within a PHP application (caveat that I'm not a PHP dev so there could be something wildly wrong with this assumption 😃).
  • Help with a theme for a php web app
PHP is server-side, meaning it works behind the scenes in order to dynamically create the content/markup which gets delivered to the end user. It does not control the look & feel of the website. The general "theme" components in a web app are CSS + Javascript. I would also suggest using a template engine such as twig.
  • How would I start in order to build a website, that is functional like the famous S-Town Podcast? Is this done in HTML5? Or is there a CMS behind it like Wordpress or similar? thanks in advance!
For your requirements, if i was creating JUST the site I would use Symfony. That way you can use things like Twig but only really pull in components you need/want. If you want to have a nice back end to manage the content, then by all means use Drupal or Wordpress, but IMO it's too much overhead unless you have a team of non-technical users who need to manage it. The majority of the work here is going to be recreating that theme.
