The quick answer is that ANYONE can simply build the hashgraph open review codebase from https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review and run it in their own private network, and draw conclusions from that.
Hedra is centralized corporate bullshit - a caution.

Is HBAR/Hedera a layer 1 solution?
reddit.com/r/hashgraph | 2021-09-28
The proof that it is a Layer 1 is just the fact none of the Hedera services/codebases refer to any other networks (https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review, https://github.com/hashgraph/hedera-services, etc.).
What do you think of HBAR?

Sure! https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review/find/main It is very generously commented
This was just posted on the Algorand Reddit page. How would you respond?

Hashgraph is open review. Anyone can see (and compile and run.) the source code. It's right here; https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review
Can anyone counter these claims?
reddit.com/r/hashgraph | 2021-09-11
While some of the things he says are true (for example, it's patented -- that's true), other things are false. For example, he says "people can't check or improve the code" -- wrong. Just because it isn't open source does not mean you cannot check the code. The code is open review, as seen here. You can read through the code, download it, and compile it if you so wish.

Hashgraph Consensus Algorithm - open for review?
If this isn’t what you need, then I’d check with their discord group.
The actual implementation is https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review/blob/staging/swirlds-platform-core/src/main/java/com/swirlds/platform/ConsensusImpl.java
This link has more info https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review
Does anyone know the hashgraph consensus algorithm well enough to code it?
reddit.com/r/hashgraph | 2021-06-06
But you can get and build/run the consensus open-review (in Java) from https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review

The open review repo looked (past tense) interesting - https://github.com/hashgraph/swirlds-open-review - but it is now read only (https://imgur.com/a/Nk0QQzT). The README doesn't note what replaces it, or why it became read only.
hashgraph/swirlds-open-review is an open source project licensed under GNU General Public License v3.0 or later which is an OSI approved license.
