Is it possible to modify divoom’s software/jailbreak it?
What's the reason you want some custom firmware? If you want to show some custom stuff on it more easily, I made an external library for that, that can control it via Wi-Fi, but it's definitely not suited for all use cases.

Where can i find the API documentation for the Pixoo64?
Raw api docs here, though if you're using python a lot of the work has already been done here

Pixoo64 - How to rotate between Clock and Custom Gallery
Agreed that the app is clunky and lacks some basic functionality. This is definitely not an ideal solution, but if you have any knowledge/interest in python coding you can do this using the SomethingWithComputers Pixoo library.

Does anybody have documentation on how to send images through the API?
I've been trying to follow along SomethingWithComputers Python API. https://github.com/SomethingWithComputers/pixoo

DJ using the Pixoo-64
After whipping up a little Python code that implements the super handy https://github.com/SomethingWithComputers/pixoo library, I ended up with this - most of the time it's a slideshow in one of the custom channel pages (it changes based on the type of music I'm playing) but when it detects a new song it displays a logo splash screen with a QR code for more info about me, and scrolls the title along the bottom:

Text never appears on Pixoo 64 (API)
UPDATE: Using the python library at https://github.com/SomethingWithComputers/pixoo, I was able to get this working to some extent. It looks like I first have to draw pixels to a buffer, send that buffer to the device, and THEN I can overlay text elements. I tried simply adding text over the top of a visualizer or a custom channel, and neither of those worked.

Interacting w/ Divoom 64 via python
Thanks to /u/flyfoam suggesting searching through github, I found https://github.com/SomethingWithComputers/pixoo which is not quite ready for primetime, but I was able to cobble together this:

I bought an RGB pixel art display. Of course I need it to display the most relevant information (bananas for scale). Source code in the comments
I wrote a small rendering library to remotely control the pixels on the screen individually, do some neat stuff like simple draw methods and font support, and added some controls for the device: https://github.com/SomethingWithComputers/pixoo
