  • Perl 2020 retrospective
    dev.to | 2021-08-23
This year saw several changes around the Perl core governance with the setup of Perl steering committee and Perl Proposal for Enhancement (I think it since changed its name to RFCs). We now have people opening RFCs e.g. RFC 004.

  • Perl’s SvPV Menace
    dev.to | 2021-05-26
Historically, Perl’s documentation favoured SvPV in its examples of scalar-to-string conversion; the other two were seldom discussed. I fixed this recently, but it’ll be years before everyone’s local perldoc reflects that change.

  • My unrealistic wish-list for Perl 7.x
    dev.to | 2021-04-21
Having it directly in the POD format would be great but it seems not easy (or controversial?) to implement if you read this issue

  • how can I get a simple filter program to support unicode √ at the Windows commandline?
    reddit.com/r/perl | 2021-04-08
It turns out your problem was caused by a bug in Windows. I reported this to p5p and submitted a pull request with a workaround. Hopefully the fix will be included in perl 5.34.
