Remove PDF redactions
Dangerzone Linux repo is currently down for some reason, but you can still use the old pdf-redact-tools that is python-based. The workflow is similar to what was explained, it would decompress the PDF into ordered files, which then you manually redact the needed content by painting over it. What I do is use selector tool to circle the part I need to redact and paint over that section. Once finished, the tool can be used to re-merge the media back to PDF and then anonymize it. It didn't have OCR like Dangerzone though.

New tool can uncover redacted, pixelated text to reveal sensitive data
> Most pdf editors will put a square over the text
Redaction is usually a "Pro" feature in commercial PDF editors. People who use PDF's annotation feature to draw a big filled box over the text/image to be redacted, don't know what they're doing and should be prepared for poor outcomes.
Adobe Acrobat and Foxit have "Pro" variants that redact properly, I'd love to know exactly how they do it. The open-source approach I'm familiar with, essentially converts the PDF to a flattened image and edits it to apply a colored shape over it. Example[1].
