It's kind of both. mast1c0re has an active implementation with support up to the latest firmware currently. Sony made a mitigation patch for 10.00/6.00 that limits the amount of memory allocation, which effectively makes things like ps4/5 game piracy through this exploit impossible(ish). The actual vulnerability(s) that the mast1c0re exploit uses remains unpatched due to Sony not wanting to do what it would take to patch.
