  • Upside of DST: An hour of excess production during Peak. With SDG&E on my current plan, that's 51.1c per kWh

You want to use this custom integration. Wifi was pretty bad on mine, even though another wifi device on the same exterior wall works 100%. I think the modem and/or antenna that Enphase uses is just bad. So I ran an ethernet cable to it. Data resolution is better than 15 minutes from the Envoy. Maybe 1 minute. If you have batteries, consumption numbers will be wrong because the Envoy includes battery charging in the consumption number, and doesn't provide a separate battery charging power. But you can see overall production, battery SOC, and individual panel production nicely in home assistant.

Still waiting for my system to go through inspection and power on, but have you looked at https://github.com/briancmpbll/home_assistant_custom_envoy as reference?
  • most "open" ecosystem for generators and API access: Enphase or SolarEdge?

I'm in the process of adding an Enphase system to our house (panels only, no battery) and getting my data into Home Assistant is pretty important to me. The good news is that there is an integration for Enphase with numerous people successfully using it, but the bad news is that Enphase's commitment to the local API is lacking and currently to get Enphase into HASS will require installing an extra HACS integration, https://github.com/briancmpbll/home_assistant_custom_envoy, (hopefully just a temporary solution until those changes can be merge.)
  • Enphase question. Confused. Why nothing from the grid?

https://github.com/briancmpbll/home_assistant_custom_envoy use this - you need HACS and then add this as a custom HACS repo then install that. be sure to delete the default integration. then login with your enlighten account and serial #. I'm able to pull just about every metric from the envoy including batteries.
