Been trying to learn how to work with shaders the last few days - here's a preview of a Day/Night cycle background effect I finally got working!
Here's the comment where I break down how I tackled this one step by step. You can read the comments in the shader code to see where I implemented some of these steps. I hope it gives some insight into things. A lot of it took constant tinkering to get right, and some numbers look entirely fabricated out of imagination land, but that's what it comes down to is how to get it just right. Multiplying something by 0.01 and 0.001 creates a drastically different effect, for example!
