  Let me preface this by saying I'm not a programmer, but I learned enough Python a few years ago to code this Discord bot that my group used for keeping stats and game progress/record keeping. It writes the data to an Airtable (preferred by my friend who built us a website).

  At the start of COVID I started learning Python. Quickly, a project came to mind for a Discord chat bot that would keep stats and do some automation for a baord game that I was playing with friends (gloomhaven if you care).

  I learned classes writing this discord bot for an rpg-esque board game called Gloomhaven. Look at gh.py. There are a bunch of classes. A Character for example has Character.name, Character.xp, Character.gold, and methods like Character.gain_xp(). There are Items you can buy and each Item has Item.name, Item.cost, etc.
