Why is CalyxOS not recommended as much as GrapheneOS?
Another example of an app store properly implementing unattended unprivileged updates is Accrescent. This can definitely be done, and there's no reason why any modern system should require deep privileged access to provide automatic and unattended updates.
As mentioned in another reply here, if you're using Play Store on GrapheneOS, it uses the appropriate API to do this, as does Accrescent.
