SimpleRotary
SimpleRotary is a Arduino library for using basic bare-bones type rotary encoders. Usually these are the cheap ones without the breakout board. - Getting rotary encoder rotation direction. - Getting rotary select button press. - Getting rotary select button long press. - Getting rotary select button press time. - Basic debouncing of rotary / button. - Basic error correcting of out-of-sync rotational readings. - Use of both high and low triggers.

Rotary_Encoder_Breakout-Illuminated
This is a clever little breakout board for both the RGB and R/G illuminated rotary encoders.

Hey! I am trying to connect an optical encoder to arduino. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong? More information (code, data sheet) in the comments.
I meanwhile use this library (which should be installable from within the Arduino IDE): https://github.com/mathertel/RotaryEncoder

Need help with neopixel ring and encoder
Thanks! Your post really helped. As I said, I am completely noob to this. I try to approach the problems with a kind of logic and try to alter a few things, so the code can do what I want. Seems that maybe some libraries have far too complex structure (or so it seems to me, at least), so I looked for library alternatives and I chose to use this.

Rotary encoder only puts 0 and 1 (or -1) out
This library looks promising also here.
