What is JPEG XL?
Currently, JPEG XL can be enabled in Chromium, Firefox, and Opera browsers, but has no other browser support. JPEG XL is supposed to remain royalty free. You can grab the encoder and decoder off Github and chat with other JPEG XL enthusiasts on Reddit and Discord. You can install JPEG XL utilities on Mac using homebrew and on Windows. Tools like GIMP and ImageMagick are beginning to support it.

convert images into black and white through command line.
The first line of the output will show the version number. In my case it shows Version: ImageMagick 7.1.0-13 Q16-HDRI x86_64 2021-10-29 https://imagemagick.org, for example, and the command they gave works for me.

Dismayed about the Comixology Amazon Transition
Cheers! I was asking because some stuff online says to use v1.17 but I got the newer Kindle desktop app but was still able to convert to a ZIP. You can make it a CBZ after, like you said, or even use something like ImageMagick to convert it into a PDF (better than Calibre's conversion).

Air traffic over Germany, 24 hours in 50 seconds. [OC]
Every code is "custom code". You know, we share what we learn among coders, that is how we all learn. Maybe you are new in code domains, but the reason something like ImageMagick exists is because the devs of it learned from someone else and that's why it ends up being "free" and available as well (https://github.com/imagemagick/imagemagick).
