I am having a difficult time finding a Garamond-style font with a long s like in 1700s news prints
Garamond waſn’t uſed much by then, but as Colorado-Sunſhine ſaid, Adobe Garamond Premiere Pro is the beſt option for that ſtyle. Another typeface that’s a bit more ſimilar to ſtyles ſeen in the 18th century would be Arno Pro. For a free option, Elſtob is one of the beſt, and alſo the only typeface I know of with a detailed implementation of the correct rules for long s in many languages, which can be toggled with a ſtyleſet. It alſo has a ſtyleſet for accurate ſpacing to the era. If you’re working on a project that calls for it or accurate typeſetting for that era, I can almoſt certainly help ; ſo do feel free to aſk. Out of the above typefaces, the former two will work, but would require manual ſetting of the long s by either typing it yourſelf, or copy paſting. Elſtob can automatically ſet it for you, or you may type it yourſelf. While many typefaces do contain the long s glyph, full ſupport for its neceſſary ligatures is often an afterthought, which can make them unuſable. Other than Elſtob, I know of no typefaces with an automated ſolution that correctly employs the rules as ſet by actual printers—a few do have a general ſet, and ſome are ſlightly more accurate, but they’re all generally poor choices if you need an automated ſolution and accuracy is of any concern ; manual ſetting is neceſſary, as well as making ſure the ligatures are preſent in the typeface.

Engliſh ſpelling iſn’t þat bad.
Uſing Stylus, you can write your own CSS to apply your choſen typeface either to everything, or to ſpecifick Web ſites. Dark Reader alſo has the ability to apply a typeface, either globally, or to ſpecifick Web ſites. While either one ſhould work for your needs, do note, however, that even though Dark Reader can replace the typeface, it doeſn’t ſeem to be able to toggle ſpecifick properties of that ; thus, if you want to uſe advanced OpenType features, Stylus might be a better choice. Here’s how your comment looks on my end. The typeface I’m uſing is Elſtob, which has a great many uſeful features.
