  • If you read this comment, many API's and features are locked away for Apple's use only. Restricted from other "browser" apps. This means Google and others have to develop alternatives or forgo something entirely. The WebKit SDK does allow for injection but this means a browsing experience can be slower than Safari just to have a feature work. Apple also gives Safari priority for engine updates. The WebKit SDK is usually delayed a little bit. This has been a thing for a very long time. And lastly, WebKit is in last place for web standards feature support.
