I've moved into chimera os which is largely similar, uses flatpak like steam. Here is a comparison chart, it seems way better run and has contributed back to steam os. It runs big picture mode by default but can be switched to gamepad ui fairly easily with a command. But it's bugged there too and the same thing happens. But at least I can use big picture instead until it's fixed

For TDP control on Linux, RyzenAdj just works when I installed the AUR package on Endeavor OS and there's also HandyPT which is supposed to add the gamepad ui TDP controls in via RyzenAdj but I haven't tried this one and don't think I can unless gamepad ui is fixed. I'm also not on endeavor anymore so I need to make sure I can run RyzenAdj in chimera
