ONVIF isn't really that important IMHO.

Configuring your camera is something you do rarely, and if you have to put up with some crappy web interface, proprietary plugin, or desktop software for it, oh well. So the ONVIF SOAP APIs aren't really the most important part.

The most important part is RTSP. Many of these have astonishingly poor RTSP implementations. See for some of what I'm talking about. That ONVIF page says everything is fine for several Reolink models, but I don't believe it!

  • retina

High-level RTSP multimedia streaming library, in Rust (by scottlamb)

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • python-onvif-zeep

ONVIF Client Implementation in Python 2+3 (using instead of suds as SOAP client)
