You'd just need to add new entries in the community_layouts and layouts sections in https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/cantor/info.json. Then you can build for cantor with a LAYOUT_split_3x5_3 keymap. No need to re-implement the whole keyboard.
