This is one of the tools I'm developing for a server - It lets you place bbmodel files in vanilla worlds and animate them. This works by using a resource pack and armour stands. Custom items are put in the head slot of the armour stands, and the armour stands move around the animate the entity. The client has a plugin to move and animate the model, but if a vanilla client joined they would also see the model moving around and being animated. The library I'm using is open source and can be found here
