  • kubernetes-iteration-toolkit

    • Check out KIT, https://github.com/awslabs/kubernetes-iteration-toolkit. You can install KIT on an existing cluster and create additional guest clusters using a CRD. K8s components and etcd run as worker nodes in the original cluster. It looks like this is primarily used for scale testing different cluster configurations by AWS.

    • Gardener does exactly that. One global cluster manages smaller per-region/cloud provider management clusters and those will contain the control planes of your workload clusters. This way you can have like 10 000 clusters and not deal with multi-tenant issues. One workload = 1 cluster.
