Tharsis, the team of engineering architects, owners, and core maintainers of the Ethermint EVM library that powers Kava’s Ethereum co-chain, is requesting 3M out of ~80M KAVA tokens (3.7%) from the Kava Community Pool Treasury to fund, develop and advance critical EVM Infrastructure through the Ethermint Engineering and R&D team for 1 year.
The Ethermint library developed by Tharsis currently serves as the engine that powers the Kava Ethereum Co-Chain. Tharsis’ goal is to maintain and expand the smart contract capabilities by solidifying Ethermint as the de facto library in the EVM library for the Cosmos SDK. This will strengthen the link between Cosmos and Ethereum communities, enriching both ecosystems through interoperability and composability. The efforts allocated so far in pursuing this goal can be seen on the Ethermint Codebase.
At the moment, IBC-enabled wallets, such as Keplr Wallet, do not support Ethereum transaction (MsgEthereumTx) signing. EIP-191 signing support would significantly improve Cosmos-related user experience.
