Why are there so few Firefox addons on mobile?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/firefox

  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • Fenix

Discontinued ⚠️ Fenix (Firefox for Android) moved to a new repository. It is now developed and maintained as part of: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-android

  • No, I'm just explaining that it is not meant to be used by regular users because there are people who don't know that. Then, they install it and start creating threads on this subreddit and other support forums when they find something broken. Issues with Nightly should only be reported directly to the developers (in the case of the Android version, on Github).

  • iceraven-browser

    Iceraven Browser

  • Last time I checked Iceraven had quite a few more add-ons than Fennec, but I'm not sure how secure it is; I caught it phoning home to somewhere bad (can't remember where exactly), and so actually just switched back to Fennec. As long as they have uBlock!

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • firefox-ios

    Firefox for iOS

  • It's being actively developed.

  • OpenSSL

    TLS/SSL and crypto library

  • OpenSSL, for instance, has even more open issues, and the security of the Internet relies largely on it. The desktop version of Firefox itself has bugs that have been open for more than two decades. All big open source projects have hundreds or thousands of them.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
