This work is an extension of a project we did looking at how procedural level design tools effect the design process which you can read on arxiv here. In that work we created a dungeon level designer (source code) which worked along side a human designer. Using an evolutionary algorithm the tool suggested new levels to the human level designer and learned from what they liked and didn't like. Our main focus of the paper was to try and evaluate what effect the system actually had on the human designers. It turns out it really helped participants think of new ideas and go in new design directions. We actually found that participants using the tool spend longer on the task (because they were enjoying themselves) than participants given a placebo tool.
