    • Thanks @spritetm @romkey and @m--s for advice here. I've discovered an arduino library by https://github.com/mandulaj/PZEM-004T-v30 with explicit support for changing address of devices and multi-device daisy chaining. I suspect I can use this code once I've got my head around it with ESPHome custom UART (https://esphome.io/custom/uart.html). I'll report back on progress, might be a few weeks though!
