    A serialization format for various persistent Vulkan object types.

    It's not for Steam Deck only, for pretty much every Windows game you get shader cache downloads if you use Steam on Linux. They get then pre-compiled via fossilize if you have the setting enabled. It's neccessary because DirectX gets translated to Vulkan and for that you need shader caches just like in dx12 or it's gonna be a stutter fest.

    There was also a fix specific to Elden Ring in the dx12->vulkan translation layer that corrected incorrect usage of dx12 by the devs. A bit like a fix in a Gameready driver on Windows.
