Out of curiosity, did you try any of the workarounds that have been mentioned in the GitHub issue? There are several libraries that seem to work really well for people in our community, such as Aurora or PrisMerge.

Definitely an interesting feature that we're considering (and again where the community has built their own libraries to work around, so far I think these have been more in a POF stage and haven't been gotten to a point where people actually use them in prod, see here and here).
