This is a cool tool that allows you to run a single command to estimate what CRF is required to target a particular VMAF. It was originally written for AV1, but has now been extended for other codecs https://alexheretic.github.io/posts/ab-av1-2/ including x264 & x265. It takes the pain way from running multiple VMAF passes.
