I've put all of my appliances on Sonoff S31 smart plugs, flashed with Tasmota open source firmware, configured with the Prometheus metrics endpoint, and monitor it all in my local Grafana and Home Assistant instances. Those S31 plugs have current monitoring, and with Tasmota, I break the dependency on the cloud (yes, they still work with Alexa, Google Home).
