what is the dark (technical) side of the game?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/kotor

  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • xoreos-tools

Tools to help the development of xoreos

  • RIM files are a type of archive, similar to a ZIP. The majority of the game's files are stored an archive format like this. RIM, ERF, MOD, and SAV are all very similar, and there is also BIF. Over the years, various tools have been developed to extract and edit the game files, notably KOTOR Tool, xoreos tools, and the Holocron Toolset. The Holocron Toolset is the newest and perhaps most user-friendly, although I have not had a chance to try it out myself yet. You can find more information and other recommended tools in the modding wiki that is under construction here.

  • xoreos-docs

Documentation to help the development of xoreos

  • BioWare released documentation on the RIM format with the NWN toolset. You can find a copy on the xoreos repository here.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • xoreos

A reimplementation of BioWare's Aurora engine (and derivatives). Pre-pre-alpha :P

  • If you can read C++, you can read the reimplemented stuff in the xoreos-tools or xoreos itself. There's also a similar reimplementation project just for KotOR, reone.

  • reone

Game engine capable of running KotOR and TSL

  • If you can read C++, you can read the reimplemented stuff in the xoreos-tools or xoreos itself. There's also a similar reimplementation project just for KotOR, reone.
