miryoku_kmonad
Miryoku is an ergonomic, minimal, orthogonal, and universal keyboard layout. Miryoku KMonad is the Miryoku implementation for KMonad.
Was in a same place as you few years ago. I'm software developer by trade and type around ~100 wpm. First thing I did that helped is to ditch qwerty. I went for colemak and it did wonders for my typing comfort. It helped, but that was not enough. Next thing was to get a split keyboard and my choice fell on Dygma Raise. Wouldn't ever go back to non-split - it opens up chest and hands are in much, much more comfortable position compared to traditional non-split boards. Also, using two strongest fingers(thumbs) for just one big spacebar I would consider a crime now. Personally don't have tenting kit but definitely feel the "need" for it. My idea was to ditch mouse and move to keyboard-focused workflow as constantly reaching back and forth for mouse exacerbated pain in my right hand. Anyway, been experimenting with different layouts ever since. So as you can imagine I do lots of shortcuts. Nowadays I'm using miryoku layout with workman as alphas. It really requires some effort to get in and get used to, wouldn't recommend going head in first. Do a little bit of reading and see if it's something that would work for you. For me the main benefit is that all the keys I need are already under my fingers - there is no need to reach out anywhere and hand movement is minimal.
I was checking miryoku to use it when I get the Defy, or at least try it. But I don't quite get the part of "workman as alphas". I saw workman, but which ones are the alphas? The numbers?
u/set92 If you just want to try Miryoku briefly on the Defy you could use Miryoku KMonad. To implement Miryoku natively, pay particular attention to the mod tap settings. You'll need to find settings suitable for home row mods.
