Meteor 2.7.4-beta.2 adds the *Async Mongo APIs and I've already taken them for a spin, looks good. And I restarted an old discussion about Meteor.callAsync on Github: https://github.com/meteor/meteor/discussions/12068 which would be another small step towards the endgoal here.
