  • Don’t we all just want to use SQL on the front end? | 2021-04-15
    > we should have an SQL database in the frontend

Although not SQL, this is essentially the approach Meteor takes where you have your same DB on the front and back end

  • Is electron the future of desktop development?
Here's my two cents worth. I use Electron in connection with Meteor ( which means I get all the benefits of writing a responsive frontend coupled with a very fast backend based on MongoDb.

With the on-going lockdowns, restrictions and uncertainty Alim Gafar approached me about establishing online Meteor Meetups in the same way we did Meteor Impact. This is also to help to consolidate all the groups and allow easy sharing between them and do many other interesting things. We got support from Meteor Software and Pathable and a new home for Meteor meetups was born:
  • Best programming language for this simple website? | 2021-03-24

Meteor 2.0 is in works and after the winter breaks we can expect the work to pick back up, though there is still a few major things to be resolved before the final release. Also its release will most likely coincide with the release of Meteor Cloud. Most notably we this release will include tree shaking, hot module reload and upgrade to Node v14. Other things like updated logging packages MongoDB bulk insert and other smaller things are also being worked on. | 2021-01-05
Very soon (as in matters of days) we will see a patch release of Meteor. This will be mainly to address a bug in IE and to provide Node v12.20.1 for security updates. You can already get the beta (meteor update --release 1.12.1-beta.0) so it won't be long for the final release to come out.
