Good backup apps: my favorite is kopia and if you don't have a requirement of dedupping among different hosts, borgbackup is a good one too. Both do end-to-end encryption meaning that you can store the data in the cloud and others won't be able to read the contents. Of course, you need to keep your encryption password safe.
