I wrote a simple python script at https://github.com/jzohrab/py-ical-to-org , using an existing python ical parsing library, and it seems to work well. At least, it's working so far, and does what little I need!

https://github.com/asoroa/ical2org.py/issues/39 Is why I couldn’t use it. Someone opened a PR to fix it ages ago but it looked like the project was either dead or dormant, and the code was not clear enough for me to quickly fix.
