  • ipfs

    Peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol

  • I'm also a big fan of IPFS and it runs my daemon.

  • OpenMediaVault

openmediavault is the next generation network attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux. Thanks to the modular design of the framework it can be enhanced via plugins. openmediavault is primarily designed to be used in home environments or small home offices.

  • That is possible. You can run Truenas: https://www.truenas.com/truenas-core/ if you need ZFS or Starwinds SAN and NAS: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/free-san-and-nas (support ZFS and mdadm if I'm not mistaken) as a VM on top of ESXi. You'll need however to have HBA to pass it through to a VM with ZFS or RDM the drives. Also, OMV would consume minimum resources: https://www.openmediavault.org/. As to old PC, it will do the job but consider power usage and cost as already mentioned.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
