    ripgrep recursively searches directories for a regex pattern while respecting your gitignore

  • Sorry, should have been clearer, but what I really meant was who actually uses grep as a replacement for method definition lookup and other code tooling, not "who actually uses grep period". In contexts other than this, I agree grep is very powerful. I recently have actually found myself using ripgrep myself (a speedier, more modern alternative to the traditional grep) and other command line tooling.
