download and install Better Dummy and you can run pretty much any resolution you can come up with (even 16:9HiDPi wich was a real hassle a couple years ago) on pretty much any display you connect to. even resolutions not supported by the display. and crazy bonkers high resolutions that WILL choke your macbook out!

- macOS Sonoma- still no fix for the external monitor issue over USB C or HDMI Adapter on my MacBook Pro with an Intel chip. I think they are simply ignoring it.
