KoboldAI is a good frontend for if you want to run AI models locally. Completely free, although most AI models require a fairly beefy PC to run locally, and the quality of the AI is entirely dependent on what AI model you're running. The KoboldAI Google Colab also exists, and allows you to use KoboldAI + GPT-J 6B in a Google Colab, so that you don't have to run the models locally. It's pretty much the best free alternative.
AI Dungeon Clover Edition isn't exactly the best in terms of output quality in comparison to most alternatives (mainly because it just hasn't been updated in quite a while; its best models still use GPT-Neo 2.7B), but it's the most similar alternative to Classic AI Dungeon, and plays more like a game than current AI Dungeon, or any of these other alternatives.
