Separately, the sound detector works, and so does the thermistor. However, I am having issues using the multiplexer. First of all, I am not certain that the setup has been done correctly. I followed this Youtube tutorial, but only used one control pin (S1) since I do not need 8 inputs. I was also attempting to use code from this Github repository, but I am not quite sure how I am going to instruct Arduino to first collect data from one of the input pins (1Y1 and 1Z in the datasheet linked). This is the code I am using, which at the moment, is outputting gibberish (I am aware it is very wrong but I cannot find any other code):
